Installing self-adhesive wallpaper is a straightforward process if done carefully. Follow these steps for a successful application:

What You’ll Need:

    •    Self-adhesive wallpaper
   •    Measuring tape
   •    Pencil
   •    Utility knife or scissors
   •    Squeegee or plastic scraper
   •    Level or straight edge
   •    Clean, lint-free cloth

Step-by-Step Guide:

    1.    Prepare the Surface
   •    Clean the wall thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove dust, grease, or dirt. Allow it to dry completely.
   •    Ensure the surface is smooth, as imperfections will show through the wallpaper. Sand any rough spots if necessary.

   2.    Measure and Cut the Wallpaper
   •    Measure the height and width of your wall.
   •    Cut the wallpaper into strips slightly longer than needed (leave an extra inch or two at the top and bottom for trimming).

   3.    Mark Guidelines
   •    Use a level to draw a vertical guideline on the wall where the first strip will be applied. This ensures the wallpaper is straight.

   4.    Peel and Stick (Apply the First Strip)
   •    Peel a small portion of the backing from the top of the wallpaper strip.
   •    Align the top edge with your guideline and press it firmly onto the wall.
   •    Gradually peel off more of the backing as you smooth the wallpaper down, working from the center outward to remove bubbles.

   5.    Smooth the Surface
   •    Use a squeegee or plastic scraper to smooth the wallpaper and eliminate air bubbles as you go.
   •    Be gentle to avoid tearing or stretching the material.

   6.    Align Additional Strips
   •    For patterns, ensure the design aligns before applying the next strip.
   •    Slightly overlap edges if required, or butt them together as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
   •    Repeat the peel-and-stick process for each strip.

   7.    Trim Excess Wallpaper
   •    Once the wallpaper is applied, use a utility knife to trim excess material at the edges, such as near the ceiling, baseboards, or around outlets.

   8.    Inspect and Adjust
   •    Check for any bubbles or misaligned sections and fix them. You can lift and reapply the wallpaper if necessary (most self-adhesive wallpapers allow for repositioning).

Tips for Success:

    •    Apply in a dust-free environment to prevent particles from sticking to the adhesive.
   •    Work slowly to avoid wrinkles and bubbles.
   •    Store any leftover pieces for future repairs.
